Oregonians want strong vaccine laws - it’s just hard to know who to trust.
In a poll conducted in May of 2026, Patinkin Research Strategies sampled 900 registered voters in Oregon. At least two-thirds of Oregonians support immunization requirements – including those for MMR, T-Dap, and Hepatitis B. Over seven-in-10 back Oregon’s school entry vaccine requirements with a majority in strong support.
When it comes to providing honest and accurate information about vaccine safety, Oregonians place the most trust in their child’s pediatrician or family doctor (82% net “trust”). Nurses and pharmacists (81%), the CDC (62%) and the Oregon Health Authority (59%) are also trusted sources of vaccine information. While the federal and state health authorities test similarly on net, the intensity of feeling is stronger for the Oregon Health Authority (49%) as compared to the CDC (32%).
Key Findings:
✓Oregon voters are broadly supportive of vaccine requirements, both in general and in reference to specific named immunizations
✓Six-in-10 believe elected officials in Oregon ought to oppose RFK Jr’s anti-vaccine priorities, with a majority feeling that way strongly
✓Nearly half of Oregon voters are pro-vaccines, but 15% are fully anti-vaccine and 37% hold a mix of views on vaccines.
✓A candidate who wants to weaken school vaccine laws or reduce access is viewed negatively, particularly amongst registered Democrats and non-affiliated/independent voters
✓A plurality of voters say it’s difficult to know what information to trust about vaccines
✓Family doctors are the most trusted source of honest and accurate vaccine information
